Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data the AI Transcriber app for Android ("the App") processes, why, who receives it and how long it is kept.

1. Who we are

The App is published on Google Play under the name UNiTED APPS. UNiTED APPS is the trading name of an individual developer based in the Czech Republic, who is the data controller for the data described in this policy ("we", "us").

We do not yet delete the records marked "until you ask us to delete it" automatically. You can ask us to delete them at any time (see section 9).

3. Microphone and files

  • Microphone. The App uses the microphone only while you are recording. Recording in the background runs through a service that shows a persistent notification the whole time. You can revoke microphone access at any time in Android settings.
  • Files. The App can access only the audio file you pick yourself. Exported transcripts are saved where you choose.

4. Device backup

Android can automatically back up App data, including your notes and recordings, to your own Google Drive account. This backup is run by Google under your Google account settings. You can turn it off in Android settings under Google → Backup.

5. Service providers

We share data only with the providers we need to run the App. Each processes it under its own terms and privacy policy.

  • OpenAI (USA): speech recognition and text analysis.
  • Google: Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, AdMob, the User Messaging Platform (ad consent) and Google Play Billing.
  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany): hosting of our server.

6. Transfers outside the EU

Our server is located in Germany. Audio and transcript text are sent to OpenAI in the United States. These transfers are based on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC). Google services may also process data outside the EU under their own safeguards.

7. Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Contract: transcription, analysis, plan limits and subscription verification, which are needed to provide the service you ask for.
  • Consent: personalised ads. You can withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect processing that took place before.
  • Legitimate interests: preventing abuse (device hash, IP address, usage records), crash reports and usage analytics to keep the App working and improve it.

8. Payments

Payments are processed by Google Play. We never see your card or other payment details.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format and withdraw consent.

The App does not yet have a button for deleting data stored on our server. To use any of these rights, email {{ email }}. We will answer within one month and may ask for details that help us identify your installation.

You can also lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů) or with the data protection authority in your country.

10. What we do not do

  • We do not sell personal data.
  • We do not use your audio, transcripts or notes to train AI models. OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models.

11. Children

The App is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old to use it. In the EU you must be at least 16 unless a parent or guardian has given consent. If we learn that we hold data of a child below these ages, we will delete it.

12. Security

Data between the App and our server travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to our API requires the installation's secret key.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. We will tell you in the App about significant changes.

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of AI Transcriber ("the App"). The App is published on Google Play by UNiTED APPS, the trading name of an individual developer based in the Czech Republic ("we", "us"). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

The App turns recorded or imported audio into text and creates key takeaways, action items and a title. Audio and text are processed on our server and by third-party AI providers, as described in the Privacy Policy. The App needs an internet connection to transcribe.

2. Free version

The free version shows ads and has the limits listed in section 4.

3. Premium subscriptions

  • Plans: Weekly $9.99 per week with a 3-day free trial, Monthly $29.99 per month, Yearly $249.99 per year. The price shown in Google Play at checkout applies. It may differ by country and include local taxes.
  • Payment is charged to your Google Play account.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
  • Free trial: if you do not cancel before the trial ends, the weekly subscription starts and you are charged.
  • You can cancel at any time in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Premium stays active until the end of the paid period. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy.

Limits keep the service available and protect it from abuse. We may change them. We will announce changes in the App or on this page before they take effect.

5. Recording other people

You are solely responsible for getting the consent of everyone you record. Many countries and several US states require the consent of all parties to a conversation. Do not record people where the law does not allow it.

6. Acceptable use

You may use the App only for lawful content. You must not:

  • get around usage limits, for example by reinstalling the App or resetting device identifiers to get more free minutes;
  • access our API with automated tools or from anything other than the App;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App, except where the law allows it;
  • interfere with the service or infringe the rights of others.

7. AI-generated results

Transcripts, takeaways and action items are created automatically and may contain errors or omissions, or assign words to the wrong speaker. Check them before you rely on them for important decisions. Do not use them for medical, legal or financial decisions without checking them with a qualified professional.

8. Your content

Your recordings, transcripts and notes belong to you. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process them, including through our service providers, only so we can provide the service. We do not use your content to train AI models.

9. Availability

We work to keep the service running but cannot guarantee it will always be available or free of errors. The service may be interrupted for maintenance or by outages at our providers. We may change, add or remove features.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, especially by abusing the service or its limits. You can stop using the App at any time. To stop paying, cancel your subscription in Google Play.

11. Limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, or losses caused by inaccurate results or service interruptions. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows when they were last changed, and we will tell you in the App about significant changes. If you keep using the App after changes take effect, you accept them.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, and disputes are handled by the courts of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
